How do I go vegetarian? After watching “Meet your Meat”, I plan to completely change my way of eating.

I pretty much gave up eating red meat many years ago, but never knew about the cruel treatment of chickens, turkeys, and fish. I never had any idea that by drinking milk and eating dairy products I am supporting the inhumane treatment of cows as well. A friend told me I can buy free range milk, dairy products and eggs where the animals are not mistreated. Where can I find these items? I will also have a hard time even buying or cooking meat for my husband. How can I convince him to try to go vegetarian as well?

Does anyone know how to do a vegetarian low-carb, high-protein diet?

I found some great high-protein meat-replacements, like Yve’s, Boca, and Morning Star. I’ve been thinking about using tofu and tempe too. Does anyone else have any other ideas, suggestions, etc? Thanks!

What would be a high protein diet for a vegetarian?

I’m doing a fitness routine, so I would like to know how can I have a lot of protein if I don’t eat meat?

How do I balance out my vegetarian diet and my families?

I have gone to work full time to support my family while my husband has gone to school. I work from home, but am tied to my computer for 10 hours a day and my husband has taken over the household chores and homeschooling our son for the next year until he is done.

The problem is, I have always cooked. Now, I have been a vegetarian since my husband and I have met and he has always been an avid meat eater. When I was cooking all the time, I would give him some meat with his dinner a couple of times a week — and bought lunch meat for his lunches and the rest of the time I would make veggie dishes only. He cant eat cheese or dairy — so I have always in this regard had to substitute this for him (as I still drink organic and free range milk).

Anyway now that he is cooking — he says he won’t make vegetarian dishes. No tofu. None of “that”. I don’t think it is fair! I work 10 hours a day — 7 days a week! Am I being unfair to ask him to throw an artichoke in for me? Cook some extra rice?

What kind of take out should I take to a vegetarian pot luck?

I don’t cook at all, but I recently joined a synagogue which has frequent dairy (vegetarian) pot lucks. That’s so that people don’t have to worry about whether the food is Kosher, not because these people are committed vegans or anything.

They have frequent (2x/month) dairy potlucks. I don’t do any cooking at all except for an occasional microwaved T.V. dinner. Mostly my husband and I eat all of our meals out.

I’m trying to think about what kind of foods I can get in 12 person servings for the pot lucks. This week I brought a vegetarian appetizer platter from Daphne’s Greek Cafe. I’ve already thought of Cheese Enchilada’s from the local Mexican place. I can occasionally bring a salad or desert, but I need to think of food I can get for a group at a take out or restaurant.\

P.S. Someone there is already famous for her lasagne and there’s almost always homemade Kugel.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Low carb high protein diet for a vegetarian?

I want to try going low-carb-high-protein to lose weight fast.

The thing is, alot of my diet now consists of bread, pasta, pitta bread, and rice.
I hate milk, and I’m vegetarian, so I can’t have fish or meat, but I can have eggs.

What would be some good high protein, low carb meals?

Thanks.
