I am breastfeeding my 7 week old infant. He was so colicky with reflux that I gave up dairy products to see if that would help. It changed my baby from a crying mess to an angel baby. I gave up dairy products for 7 days and like I said it was really wonderful. Then to test it, I had ice cream. That night he cried so hard and I felt terrible.
Anyway, I lived on milk products and I’m really upset that I can’t have my usual cereal, yogurt, cheese. I have lost a major source of protein and fat from my diet. Making up for it has been challenging: I have been eating more meat.
My question is does anyone know if you bake or cook cheese or any milk product will it change its properties enough for me to eat it and not have a crying baby a few hours later. For example, a frozen pizza with cheese — can I eat it?
I have looked everywhere for an answer to this question. Some websites seem to indicate that the milk protein changes when it is heated up (denaturation). Please help.
It appears that small amounts of dairy in processed foods that are then cooked have no effect, for example ‘nonfat milk powder’ and trace amounts of parmesan cheese.
